Shelby County Exposition Center - Columbiana, AL.


Calera High students were involved in a first-hand view of what it takes to set up for the Shelby County fair. A lot of hard work is involved in the behind-the -scenes preparation. The students were instrumental in assisting the event staff to make sure the fair starts on time.

Home Plate Cooking - Helena, AL

Our Calera High School student put her culinary skills to the test working at Home Plate Cooking. She made 200 cake pops, chicken salad sandwiches, and assisted with  food prep for the lunch crowd.

Wash It Off Car Wash- Helena, AL







It may be Fall, but the temperatures are still hot and so is the Wash It Off express car wash in Helena. Our HHS students prepped more that 12 vehicles during work instruction today. They also learned about good customer service as the vehicles were directed in to the "straight drive-in".

R & S Farms- Columbiana, AL


Chelsea High School students assisted in washing and polishing pumpkins in preparation for fall. Students then loaded a truck of pumpkins for delivery to Piggly Wiggly.  One truck load was not enough today!  They loaded a second trailer for delivery to Southern Homes and Gardens in Montgomery.

Uptown Salon- Helena, AL

Uptown Salon is a full service hair salon located in Old Town Helena.  After observing the stylists cutting and highlighting hair, the Helena High School student learned about different aspects of stylists responsibilities such as cleaning up work spaces after clients, stocking products, and folding towels.

Heart of Dixie Train Museum -Calera, AL







Calera and Chelsea High School students helped with the set-up for the  annual Heart of Dixie Pumpkin Patch. A burlap maze was constructed and cornstalks were placed around the perimeter of the maze.

Education Connection Meeting- Montevallo, AL

The Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce held its third Education Connection meeting at Montevallo High School. The goal is to connect business with education by bringing together local businesses and students throughout all of the Shelby Co. High Schools. Culinary students provided refreshments and several areas of the Career Tech program were represented.

Wash It Off is a premiere destination to have your car beautified. It's an express car wash that is locally owned by Jay Modi and located in Helena, AL. Our Helena High School students assist in washing and detailing vehicles on a weekly basis.

Buck Creek Stained Glass-Helena, AL


Buck Creek Stained Glass, the Southeast’s leader in the expert restoration and repair of stained glass, is located in the heart of historic Old Town Helena, just south of Birmingham. Buck Creek Stained Glass, owner David Schlueter, taught our Helena High School student to take apart and clean grinders. Our student was also taught how to operate a shop vac.
