Students learn the ins-and-outs of the dedication and commitment required to have a successful operation. Working with the public, inventory display and rotation, and business transactions are just some of the skills learned here at Joe's. And getting paid in donuts is not bad either! (Apple Fritters are a specialty too.)

We are excited to have Kai's Koffee as one of our participating businesses. Kai's is located off the Pelham Parkway. Students are learning daily responsibilities of business ownership, people skills, the importance of maintaining a facility, stocking an inventory and delivering a quality product to the customer.

Farmers Insurance, Pelham, AL

We are appreciative Kai Smith, at Farmers Insurance for committing to be another one of our Work Instruction locations. This local company provides an invaluable office environment experience. Students are filing, checking data print-outs, and assembling brochure packets. Chelsea and Helena High School students area benefiting from this Pelham, Alabama site.

Cheeriodicals, MT Laurel, AL

Cheeriodical is a participating business located in Mt Laurel, AL. While on site, our students assemble, and prepare boxes for shipment. They learn the importance of fulfilling a detailed order for a specific customer. Cheeriodicals are alternatives to traditional gift baskets for any occasion including:  Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day, birthdays, housewarming, new baby, gifts for teachers, gifts for coworkers, anniversary, retirement and so many more. So learning to be responsible and to work in a pressure situation to get a detailed order correct is an invaluable experience for future employment.

Lucky Dog Grooming, MT Laurel AL

Located in Mt Laurel, we are pleased to add another new participating business-Lucky Dog Grooming & Boutique. At Lucky Dog Grooming & Boutique, students will be work skills by taking directions and having initiative in this small business environment. Students are going to be supporting support the pet groomers by keeping the shop clean and orderly as well as stock products and marketing materials. They also learn to take direction and interact with the public and their "precious family members."

Students Tour Jefferson State Culinary Hospitality Program

Students from Pelham, Chelsea, and Thompson High Schools visited the Jefferson State Community College's Culinary Hospitality& Program. They were given a tour by Mr. Joseph Mitchell, Director of the Culinary Department, where they were able to view the Culinard students in various lab settings. Mr. Mitchell gave an overview of the Culinary&Hospitality program and informed the students of the entrance requirements. The tour culminated at the Bistro ProVare where the Shelby County Students ate a gourmet meal prepared by the Culinard Students

Summer Classics In Calera

Students learn the hands-on skills needed to assemble products for Summer Classics In Calera, Alabama. With over 1500 custom made cushion orders daily, this facility, managed by Mr. Wally Franklin, creates the "top of the line" Frontgate and Summer Classics designs that are shipped all over the world.
