Alabama Wildlife Rescue Center, Oak Mt. State Park

The Alabama Wildlife Rescue Center at Oak Mt. State Park is a non-profit  center that rescues, rehabilitates, and returns injured and orphaned native birds to the wild.

The center is a leader in the rehabilitation of wild birds relying solely on over 300 volunteers. The Wildlife Center has originated methods of rehabilitating injured birds that are utilized in other facilities around the world.

Our students assist in casting seeds around trails, building a foot bridge, feeding injured birds, facility maintenance, and office/clerical duties. Today we also helped decorate the center for the Christmas season.

The Shelby County Work Instruction program has partnered with the Wildlife Center for over fifteen years.
