Jefferson State Community College- Hoover, AL

We want to thank Cheryl at the Pioneer Bookstore for allowing our Oak Mountain High School student to participate in Work Instruction at Jeff State.  The OMHS student has learned to read bar codes to stock, check expiration dates on inventory, ring up customers, and zone/clean. Shelby County School’s School-To-Work Transition Program allows students to participate in various non-paid work experiences. The students learn business/employer expectations, as well as obtain the skills necessary to become independent, productive citizens. The students generally participate 5-6 weeks per work site.
