Jefferson State Culinary Certificate- Hoover, AL

Chef Joseph Mitchell, Director of the Culinary & Hospitality Institute at Jefferson State Community College and Brian Geiger, Executive Director of The Horizons School hosted an interest meeting with area school systems, agencies, and businesses to discuss an exciting career prep opportunity at JSCC for students with disAbilities.

The Modified Fundamentals Cook Certificate will be an industry-led training, assessment and certification system focused on core skills and knowledge for employment across settings (bakery, delicatessen, restaurant and cafeteria) Jeff State's CHI will partner with The Horizons School and other education and nonprofit agencies serving adults with learning and other disAbilities.









Guests represented Al. Dept. of Mental Health,UAB Sparks Clinic, The Arc of Shelby County, Al. Dept. of Rehab Services,United Ability, Disability Rights and Resources, Homewood, Vestavia, Mountain Brook, and Shelby County Schools as well as Renaissance Resort & Spa at Ross Bridge and Tazikis Mediterranean Cafe.
