Alabama Food Solutions, Childersburg, AL

Another rewarding experience at Alabama Food Solutions in Childersburg, AL. This opportunity allowed students to assist in distributing food to needy families in the community. Students find that sometimes it is better to give than receive.

Salon Suites (Colonnade) - Birmingham, AL

Students observe the daily operations of a busy stylist shop. They learn that being an independent stylist is more than just cutting and coloring hair. Other than being a creative and skilled artist, there is equipment that must be maintained in top working condition, products must be stocked and marketed in an appealing presentation, keep an ever changing appointment calendar, promoting their services as well as themselves to the customers, and keep the area tidy and clean to meet health department regulations. Students perform entry level tasks such as maintaining the styling area, stocking product inventory, and prepping for the next appointment by replenishing supplies of products, towels, smocks, and sweeping.

Salon Suites features two stylists that work with our program:Christina Durham and Raemi Heard. Christina is a Master Stylist that specializes in color.

E&E Hardware, MT Laurel, AL

E&E Hardware is a throwback to your neighborhood general store of days gone by. Even though it specializes in everyday home hardware needs; one may find anything from light bulbs, air filters, garden supplies, and tools - to fishing rods and snow sleds.

The store owner teaches our Work Instruction student general store maintenance, receiving, unloading and stocking a new inventory shipment.
