Barber Motorsports Park

Just outside the heart of Birmingham, sits Barber Motorsports Park. It's more than just a 3.8 kilometer, 15 corner road course. It's also grounds to the largest motorcycle collection on the planet. It's a 740 acre oasis for anyone who loves motors, racing, or both. The students learned about what is involved in the landscaping and maintenance of the park. At the conclusion of the job shadow, they were treated to a lap around the track







CEFA (Construction Education Foundation of Al.), Birmingham

The Construction Education Foundation of Alabama is a wonderful place to receive industry backed trade training with employment opportunities in less than two years.The students learned that they can be eligible for a full tuition scholarship in HVAC, Carpentry, or Electrical trade.

Chelsea General Store, Chelsea

CHHS students completed several days of sorting and inventory of vintage military uniforms/ items from around the world at the Chelsea General Store. It was interesting for all to discover and experience the historical pieces.

SYSCO

Calera High and Montevallo High School students learned how Sysco is the global leader in selling, marketing and distributing food products to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities, lodging establishments and other customers who prepare meals away from home. Its family of products also includes equipment and supplies for the foodservice and hospitality industries. The company operates 196 distribution facilities serving approximately 425,000 customers. For Fiscal Year 2015 that ended June 27, 2015, the company generated sales of more than $48 billion. The students were taken on a comprehensive tour of the Calera Distribution Center.

AC Legg

 AC Legg has decades of experience in the art and science of designing specialty blends and unique flavors for recipes. CHS/MHS students gained insight from the fascinating process of inception to production and custom packaging to delivery.

Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Spa, Hoover


Students were able to tour the elegant oasis of the AAA Four Diamond Rating hotel. The resort features the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail course- the fourth-longest course in the world and a 12,000 square foot European spa. The students learned about the qualifications,duties,salary, and benefits of  jobs throughout the beautiful 
property.

Our HHS student works in areas such as stocking, customer service, wiping counters/tables, and breaking down all areas after closing at Daylight Donuts.

Chelsea General Store

Chelsea General Store, located about a mile south of the Chelsea Walmart on U.S. 280, is an eclectic smattering of goods spread out over hundreds of square feet. Some customers might see it as a military surplus store and others a place to buy specialty jams and jellies.

         We enjoyed finding various international military uniforms/items while sorting the                               store's inventory.

The Brew

 Our OMHS student learns the art of being a barista, preparing coffee and other beverages, at The Brew Coffee Shop. He gets a great opportunity to see what is  involved in the day to day operations of a small business.   The Brew is open Monday-Saturday. Mock Interviews

Students from all seven high schools participated in mock interviews at the Instructional Services Center. Over 50 interviewers form the Shelby Co. business community were on hand to meet and evaluate students that have worked hard preparing for this process.
