Al. Dept of Rehab Services is again sponsoring The College Prep Summer Experience program. The program, that has since been replicated in Montgomery, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, and Huntsville, simulates a true college experience for participants. The purpose of the program is to help students with disabilities prepare for the post-secondary environment through the development of study strategies, use of technology, exposure to the college environment including classrooms and guest lecturers. In addition, students are taught the importance of self-advocacy skills and the differences between high school and college responsibilities.

Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham- University of Montevallo

The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham invited stakeholders to join them as they discussed the culmination of their strategic planning effort. They reported back to the community following more than a year of interviews, focus groups, conversations, analysis and preparation to begin the next chapter of their work and investment in the community.  In the past year, input and vision from stakeholders have helped them in considering how to fulfill the mission to ignite passion for transformational change in our region. The mayor of Montevallo, a county commissioner, and state/county employees were among those in attendance.
