Christmas time is the busy time at Highland Gourmet  Scones. Our Oak Mountain High School student is allowed a first hand view of what it takes to operate a family owned small business. He helped label the small bags that will encase the scones in the holiday tins. Original Golden Raisin, Pumpkin Spice, and Orange Cranberry were the flavor options going out today.

Our Oak Mountain High School student  got a first hand view of how busy a scone business can be leading up to the Christmas season. Highland Gourmet Scones ships hundreds of  gold tins across the country during this time of year.  Judging by what we experienced today, there will be many happy customers on the receiving end of these delicious treats.

Embroidery General- Hoover, AL


We want the thank Embroidery General for working with our Oak Mountain High School student.  Owner, Rick Wygle, and his staff have provided him with an incredible insight into the daily operations of a screen printing and apparel business. From receiving, inventory, production, and preparing merchandise for delivery, these work experiences  have allowed our student to explore and receive hands-on experience in a workplace environment related to specific vocational goals/interests.

Spoon & Ladle  offers soup selections to restaurants and grocers. Under the culinary direction of Executive Chef Monty Todd, the soups are made in small batches with meticulous care.
Our Calera High students and Work Instructor,Carrie Radice, assist in placing labels on hundreds of containers weekly. 
Spoon & Ladle has now added pimento cheese and salsa to their menu.

Our students assisted in the preparation for the the holiday shipping of the delicious scones .

Magic City Donuts- Hoover, AL



We want to thank Magic City Daylight Donuts for partnering with our Work Instruction program. They offer a huge variety of donuts and sweet pastries that are made fresh daily at two convenient locations! They also offer other delicious breakfast options such as spicy kielbasa roll, ham & cheese pie, cajun pie, and sausage,egg & cheese pie.

Our Chelsea High School student learned to prep for closing and "break-down" afterwards by stocking, cleaning, and washing/lining trays. She made sure everything is ready for the bakers when they arrive bright and early the next day.

Changing light bulbs; cleaning;   retrieving shirts from the drying oven; and stacking/ folding for packing are all part of the daily operations. Embroidery General specializes in identity apparel using production embroidery and screen printing.

Chef Sean instructs HHS seniors in dry and wet measuring as they prepare for their participation in The Granola Project*. Afterwards, they completed their Kitchen Safety test.

Our Oak Mt. High student opened soccer shirt packages and grouped sizes to be prepared for printing.

After the screen printing process, the shirts travel through a heat oven and are sized and bundled.

The Montevallo High students were busy placing hundreds of labels on containers for the Spoon & Ladle soup that will go out to stores such as Piggly Wiggly, Organic Harvest, Western Supermarkets, and Beef O'Bradys.

Preparing the ingredients for Ginger and Carrot soup, one of the many featured "soups of the week" for Spoon & Ladle.
