Heart of Dixie Train Museum/Thomas the Train- Calera, Al





All aboard!  Thomas the Tank Engine™  rolled into the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum for A Day Out With Thomas™ on May 12-14! Our Calera High students had the  opportunity to interact with children and their families as they experienced a train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine™ and met Sir Topham Hatt™, the Controller of the Railway. The students assisted  at the merchandise tent and with Thomas & Friends Imagination Station where children splashed around in the bubble station, played  mini golf, and much more.

David Parsons Memorial Award

Don and Ruth Driggers of Vincent Gardens presented Amber Marlow with the First Annual David Parsons Memorial Award. Amber, a member of the Young Adults in Transition group at Chelsea High School,was chosen for her hard work and diligence in overcoming adversity. Amber plans to attend Jefferson State Jr. College in the fall. We are so proud of all of  your accomplishments Amber!

Mock Interviews/Shelby Co. Instructional Services Center- Alabaster,Al

Students from all seven high schools and Project Search participated in mock interviews at the Instructional Services Center. Over 50 interviewers form the Shelby County business community were on hand to meet and evaluate students that have worked hard preparing for this process.

Our Oak Mt High student assisted Chef Todd at  Spoon & Ladle by preparing hundreds of containers for the wonderful soups that will go out to surrounding Birmingham, Alabama restaurants and grocery stores such as: iCantinaBeef O’Brady’sBob Sykes BarbequePiggly WigglyAndy’s Farm MarketMurphree’s Market & Garden Center; And Western Supermarket
Today's flavors included Corn and Crab Chowder, Vegetable, Guinness Beer Cheese, and Lemon Chicken with Orzo.

Revolve Restaurant- Hoover,Al

Chelsea High students helped Revolve Restaurant with some spring cleaning on this rainy day. They prepared the patio for outdoor seating as well as organized a space next door that will become a New Orleans/Cajun themed restaurant in the fall. The boys later were able to enjoy the fruits of their labor when Chef Butler and Manager Stefan Butler treated them to a wonderful lunch!
