Jeff State Bookstore- Hoover,AL

May graduation for Jefferson State Community College students is looming. Our OMHS student helped assist break down a banner that will be used at the Alabama Theater graduation night for photographs.
Boxes of new textbooks have arrived for the upcoming summer session. The books are inventoried first, then the boxes have to be broken down.  There is also time for register practice: scanning and counting back change.

Customs Cafe- Hoover,AL

Customs Cafe, owned by Teresa White and  Craig Casiday, celebrates the cuisine and cultures of countries around the world, while educating customers on the customs of each place. The cafe (formerly known as Coffee-ol-ogy) features food from a different country each month, along with a standard daily menu in a trendy, travel-themed restaurant.
A fundraiser was held today for Rusert Ranch, a charitable organization dedicated to helping foster and adopted children heal and gain confidence through the joy of horses. Rusert Ranch offers riding lessons at no cost to children in foster care.

He also got to assist with food prep and table service for the first time. 

Customs makes sure their customers have a fun dining experience. If you are able to "ring" the airplane, you get a free piece of cake.

What is the Granola Project?


At School House Granola we are focused on helping high school students in the Shelby County School system find their passion and match their ABILITIES within this unique school-based project.

The Granola Project is a collaborative effort between the School2Working and CTEC Culinary programs. The students are involved in planning, production, marketing, distribution, and sales - Start to Finish! Our goal is to prepare students throughout high school and give them a foundation to go out and change the world with their gifts.

School House Granola is proud to offer you an early opportunity to become a founder of our project as we make a long-term difference together in the lives of students with disABILITIES. First round of production is starting soon, we invite you to be the first to try our incredible granola. Your family, friends, and coworkers are going to love our granola because it’s “Crafted with Caring Hands and Loving Hearts.”

Mock Interviews- Helena, AL

Thank you to The Arc of Shelby County and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services for sponsoring the Inaugural 2018 Mock Interviews at the Helena Sports Complex. (Click link to see story in The Shelby County Reporter)


Our YAiT (Young Adults in Transition) seniors from Helena High School volunteered by directing students to their interviews, delivering lunches, and  cleaning up afterwards. So many of the adults commented on how the students were such a help throughout the day, often without even being asked! So proud of them-they did a fantastic job!

Blackwatch Sports Performance- Birmingham, AL


 Located on US-280 in Birmingham, Alabama, BWSP serves Oak Mountain, Chelsea, Hoover, Spain Park, Briarwood Christian, and the surrounding areas. They are dedicated to creating better people, kids, and adults through the use of athletics. Their goal is to see people of all ages become productive, contributing and healthy members of society. They strive to help each individual achieve their goals and aspirations and become fulfilled in their life's purpose and passion.
 Thank you to Wes McCarter and our newest work site BLACKWATCH SPORTS PERFORMANCE. After the Vincent High School students completed their work, they got a chance to shoot hoops with former pro football player Simeon Castille, Director of Athletic Performance at Blackwatch, Needless to say, it made their day!
