The students helped prepare over 500 containers that will go out to surrounding Birmingham, Alabama restaurants and grocery stores such as: iCantina; Beef O’Brady’s; Bob Sykes Barbeque; Piggly Wiggly; Andy’s Farm Market; Murphree’s Market & Garden Center; And Western Supermarket.

Alabama Furniture Market, is a work location for our Calera and Montevallo High School Students. They categorize themselves an "open-air market."  Our students worked in the warehouse and helped in staging room display. The market is so large that the students can have a variety of working experiences in one facility. Thank you, Alabama Furniture Market for hosting our program.

Cedar Creek Nursery- Montevallo, AL

Cedar Creek Nursery has many varieties and sizes of shrubs, flowering trees, evergreens, annuals, and perennials. They also have a gift shop and antique store that creates a unique shopping experience.

The Calera High School student got the opportunity to work at a nursery and experience the day-to-day operations of a small, family owned business. A new shipment of fall mums were unloaded, and a fresh layer of pine straw was distributed throughout the grounds instantly boosting the curb appeal of the landscape.

University of Montevallo- Montevallo, AL

                                                   

MHS students got to experience the lunchtime rush while working at the University of Montevallo's Anna Irvin Dining Hall*. They helped set up the many stations, prepared coffee, stocked, and cleaned.

The Anna Irvin Dining Hall, home to the University’s main dining facility, is conveniently located at the center of campus and features Pulse on Dining (POD). POD combines an excellent variety and selection with outstanding customer service in an inviting, state-of-the-art facility. The chefs showcase their craftsmanship with quality, made-to-order entrées of regional and traditional cuisines focusing on fresh ingredients and healthy offerings.

Shelby County Career Fair, Pelham, AL

The Pelham Civic Complex was the site of The Shelby County Career Fair. The Career Fair exposed transition aged students to various career path opportunities with professionals. The students were able to explore and engage with a number of professionals.as well as ask questions about potential education, training, and career growth within the different career paths. Our CHHS student  helped sign students in and assisted them with locating selected speakers. A wonderful lunch:was provided by Taziki’s. Manning the beverage table, the Work Instruction student made sure there was enough tea and lemonade for all.

Shelby County Humane Society-Columbiana,AL

The SCHS student assisted the staff at the Shelby County Humane Society in bathing and grooming puppies that have been assigned to be transported to homes out of state.  The student first had to read charts and match numbers listed with those animals in the various cages before bathing them. He did a wonderful job soaping and rinsing the dogs, taking great care to be gentle and keep them calm.
