Chef Joseph Mitchell, Director of the Culinary & Hospitality Institute at Jefferson State Community College and Brian Geiger, Executive Director of The Horizons School hosted an interest meeting with area school systems, agencies, and businesses to discuss an exciting career prep opportunity at JSCC for students with disAbilities.

Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum- Calera, AL
Chelsea High School students helped set up for the annual Pumpkin Patch Express at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum. |
Afterwards they got a chance to tour the area and look at the restored train cars. HODRR is the official railroad museum of the state of Alabama! They are located just south of Birmingham in Calera, Alabama. The museum features operating standard gauge and narrow gauge trains, two restored depots, an indoor collection of railroad artifacts and memorabilia, and an outdoor collection of railroad cars, locomotives, and cabooses. |

We want to thank Highland Gourmet Scones for working with our Oak Mountain High School students. Highland Gourmet is a family owned and operated scone bakery located just outside of Birmingham, Alabama. That’s right, Birmingham, Alabama, not England.
Today, we helped label all the bags that will contain the fresh, delicious Original Golden Raisin,Lemon Blueberry,(Most Popular) Orange Cranberry, Hazelnut Crème Chocolate Chip, Café Mocha, Cherry Amaretto and Toasted Coconut scones.
