Highland Gourmet Scones- Pelham,AL

The ladies at Highland Scones are preparing for the upcoming holiday rush. Our Oak Mountain High School student helped with labeling the bags for the Original Golden Raisin scones. New flavors have been added to the Holiday assortment: Cinnamon Brown Sugar, Pumpkin Spice, and Orange Cranberry.

She was able to learn how to pack and label the small tins for shipment.

It's hard to do work when the aroma of freshly backed scones are filling the air. Katie Caldwell, Highland Scones owner, shows our student the cooking process.

Jefferson State Community College School of Nursing- Hoover, AL

Our Oak Mountain High School student assisted in the Nursing Department office at Jeff State today. She began preparing the folders and packets for the next incoming class of nursing students.

Pure Bliss Salon Spa/ Blissful Boutique - Mt Laurel,AL

Our Oak Mountain High school student assisted the girls' today at Pure Bliss Salon Spa. She experienced the many day-to-day responsibilities and tasks of running a successful salon and boutique. Pure Bliss Salon Spa is a full service salon offering hair, nail,and aesthetic services.  Located in the beautiful town of MT Laurel, they are open Tuesday- Saturday at 15 MT Laurel Ave. (205) 538-5972.

Flynn Distributing Company- Pelham,AL

 Our Helena High School student prepared three different types of used car kits today at Flynn Distributing. He first pulled all the products from the warehouse and then assembled and wrapped the brake kits. The Warehouse is located in Pelham off of Old Montgomery Highway. Flynn is the #1 distributor for ACP, Pro and Meguiar's automotive detail products, Wynn's Automotive Maintenance products and equipment, the new FDC Nitrogen tire inflation systems and much more. 

Heart of Dixie Train Museum Pumpkin Patch- Calera, AL

Calera High School students got to board a vintage 1940 train for a beautiful autumn ride through the scenic forests of Shelby County. They then assisted at the Pumpkin Patch, working with children as they took hayrides, bounced in the inflatable bounce house, got lost in the hay maze, and participated in other family activities! 

Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum Pumpkin Patch - Calera, AL

Students from Calera High School got the opportunity to board a vintage train and ride through the scenic forests of Shelby County. Fun was had by all as they assisted at the Heart of Dixie Pumpkin Patch Express. The Calera High students were responsible for helping pre-school and elementary school age students visit the Great Pumpkin, take a hayride, bounce in the inflatables bounce house, and participate in other activities such as visiting the maze, tattoo, bubble, and color stations.

The Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum’s  collection contains pieces spanning the time period from as early as 1890 and as late as 2005. The collection contains ordinary pieces such as cabooses and flatcars along with unique pieces such as club cars, passenger coaches, a diner and a rare domed observation car. 

Spoon & Ladle- Pelham, AL

Our Calera High student assisted Chef Todd at  Spoon & Ladle by preparing hundreds of containers for the wonderful soups that will go out to surrounding Birmingham, Alabama restaurants and grocery stores such as: iCantina, Beef O’Brady’s, Bob Sykes Barbeque, Piggly Wiggly, Andy’s Farm Market, Murphree’s Market & Garden Center, and Western Supermarket.

Our Chelsea High School student assisted in the warehouse of Flynn Distributing. Today he assembled brake fluid kits, pulled required parts, assembled kits into bags- sealing, shrink wrapping, and then packaging them to ship. Flynn is a distributor for ACP, Pro and Meguiar's automotive detail products, Wynn's Automotive Maintenance products, the new FDC Nitrogen tire inflation systems and more. 

Jefferson Community College Nursing Department- Hoover,AL

All of our students take career interest inventories at the beginning of the year and we try and match their interests with  the participating community based work sites. This OMHS student is very interested in nursing so she has had the opportunity to work in the office of Jeff State's Nursing Dept. alphabetizing, filing, and shredding. She got to meet the head of the department and get information on various certificate programs offered in the health field.
