- New work sites developed: Narrows Family Eye Care, North Shelby library, Salon Suites, Big Bad Breakfast.
- Successful YAIT meeting at SCISC: We had a great first-meeting with a nice turnout with representatives from four of our High schools. Jefferson State Community College, recruiter, Rodney Thompson, spoke to students about career certificate programs offered by the college. Chris Moore, Shelby Work Instructor faculty member, shared his adaptation to a personal learning issue in a presentation that encouraged many of our kids to openly share their concerns in small groups. The second meeting will be held in February at Shelby Baptist. (Thanks to Lacy for arranging that and we are hoping to have some local news coverage for the meeting and/or the mock interviews.)
- Attend IEP Meetings: The Work Instruction faculty continue to attend IEP meetings and help clarify program requirements with parents.
- Meeting Special Education teachers: We are scheduling a series of meetings with high school Special Education teachers in January to promote the Work Instruction program.
- Transition Conference Preparation: The program has submitted two presentation proposals for the up coming Transition Conference.
PR: Hand delivered “Thank You” Christmas Cards to all our businesses with a small treat from one of our sites. Also, discuss partnering with them again in the second semester. |
